It is recommended to always test the strength of your engine as well as the stability of go cart frames before taking the go cart at full speed. Take a few, slow laps on a track and make sure that everything remained secure after the test run. Only when you are sure that the go cart can handle the test run should you take it for a real drive. By ensuring that go cart frames and engines are working properly you can relax and have a great time.
Frames usually support engines that are 5 horsepower, however there are larger engines available to choose from. A 5 horsepower go cart engine is smaller and fits securely behind the seating area. They are designed to hold engines in place. First, you will need to install the engine and that includes making sure that all of the wiring and lines are properly connected. Once you’ve assembled the engine and the wiring, you will need to ensure that the steering column is secure. Your next step will be to ensure that everything is in alignment and adjusted properly. The frames can withstand most minor accidents and crashes, however if the frame becomes bent during an accident it will have a great impact on the safety of the go cart. Safety always comes first when go cart racing. Never take your go cart on to the road without first determining whether or not this practice is prohibited.
